SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
Cooperation Texas seeks a social media intern for the summer of 2013.

Founded in October 2009 in response to growing economic inequality, Cooperation Texas is an Austin-based non-profit committed to the creation of sustainable jobs through the development, support and promotion of worker-owned cooperatives. We believe everyone deserves equal access to dignified employment, which is why we place those most directly affected by social and economic inequality at the center of our work. We provide education, training and technical assistance to existing and start-up worker cooperatives in all sectors of the economy, helping launch and strengthen businesses across Texas that put people and the planet first. Responsibilities:
- Working with the Education and Outreach Coordinator to develop a comprehensive social media strategy
- Identify social media outlets to promote Cooperation Texas
- Develop a vast social media network for Cooperation Texas
- Day-to-day maintenance of Cooperation Texas’ social media outlets (currently Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
Requirements:
- Education level: Bachelor’s degree in progress or higher
- Skills and interest in emerging social media
- Demonstrated interest in the cooperative economy
- Strong written and visual communication
- Spanish-language proficiency preferred, not required
- Ability to work independently
- Computer literate, including Word, Internet and design software
- Available at least 10-12 hours per week

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT INTERN
Cooperation Texas seeks a Research & Development intern for the organization’s Cooperative Business Institute program.

Responsibilities:
- Research and review existing literature on worker cooperative development
- Conduct market & industry research.
- Assist with feasibility studies & business planning
- Work with staff on project management
- General program support for the Cooperative Business Institute
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Education level: Bachelor’s degree in progress or higher
- Subject/Major: Financing; Business Management; Economics/Political Economy; Marketing or relevant experience
- Research-oriented and organized
- Demonstrated interest in business development and the cooperative economy
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Spanish-language proficiency preferred, not required
- Ability to work independently
- Computer literate, including Word, Internet and databases
- Available at least 10-12 hours per week

- Create an infographic creatively depicting information gathered on topics such as the racial wealth divide in Texas and the effectiveness of cooperatives as a response
Requirements
- Education level: Bachelor’s degree in progress or higher
- Subject/Major: Radio/Film/Television; Marketing; Public Relations; Communications
- Graphic design skills
- Demonstrated interest in the cooperative economy
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Spanish-language proficiency preferred, not required.
- Ability to work in a group
- Computer literate, including Word, Internet and design software
- Available at least 10-12 hours per week.

EVENT PLANNING INTERN

- Work in conjunction with staff and volunteers on events
- Solicit silent auction items and services from local businesses and organizations
- Assist with outreach for events
- Design marketing materials for events
- Serve as coordinator on the day of events
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Education level: Bachelor’s degree in progress or higher
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Graphic design skills
- Demonstrated interest in the cooperative economy
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Spanish-language proficiency preferred, not required
- Ability to work independently and in a group

- Available at least 10-12 hours per week
